PM College has officially released a refined Business Skills curriculum.

We are excited about the official launch of the Business-Driven PM curriculum! After refining the course contents based on input from students in pilot courses, we are ready to help organizations develop project managers with their fingers on the pulse of business.

This innovative new program was developed with input from real-life business leaders at global Fortune 500 and mid-size organizations. Leaders from more than 10 companies in the education, energy, financial services, insurance, manufacturing, and retail sectors were represented at an inaugural pilot of the program held by PM College last year at Franklin University. The curriculum was again pilot-tested this year. The result was the four courses (see full descriptions here) now offered. All of these courses touch on strategically aligning projects, evaluating the projects from a more holistic perspective, working with and engaging stakeholders, and understanding and communicating the business value of projects, programs, and portfolios.

Business savvy is increasingly a part of the project manager role. (For more background on this issue, see our updated white paper here.) What used to be two overlapping circles representing the art and the technical side of project
management is now more correctly drawn with a third, overlapping circle: business skills. Integrating art, science and business, today's project manager role has far more responsibility ... and also, more opportunity for advancement.
that are needed by today’s project managers.

Here's the news story about the release.
