Frequently Asked Questions – PM Professional Coach

1. How much time do I have access to the tool?

The amount of time that you have to access the PM Professional Coach program depends on the package that you purchase.

  • PMP® Prep Package - 40 hours to use within 90 days
  • Core Knowledge Package - 25 hours to use within 60 days
  • Re-Certification Package - 15 hours to use within 30 days

The day that you register and pay for the program is considered day 1 of your access time.

2. I used your program for myself and I think it would benefit my company as a whole. Can we get a group discount?

Yes. Organizations pairing PM Professional Coach with other PM College® training programs can offer a customized experience for project managers on staff based on specific business needs. Corporate discounts are available for bundled training offerings.

3. Does the Project Management Institute (PMI®) recognize this program as a means to satisfy education requirements for the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®) certification?

Yes, hours spent in the PM Professional Coach program qualify for contact hours towards certification. The educational requirement from PMI is to have 35 contact hours (for the PMP) and 23 contact hours (for the CAPM) in project management education completed prior to submitting the certification application. (Please see Question #6, below, for more information on earning hours.) PM College is a Registered Education Provider (REP®) for PMI.

4. Am I eligible to receive Professional Development Units (PDUs) towards recertification within the PM Professional Coach?

Yes, you can receive up to 15 PDUs through this self study program based on PMI’s PDU program. The Re-Certification Package is designed to meet this need.

5. Do I get a certificate when I finish the program?

Yes, a program certificate will be immediately available for print upon completion of the program. Completion is defined as passing the Final Test and completing all of your hours.

6. How many hours will my certificate read?

You must be active in the program and pass the Final Test in order to earn the number of hours you have purchased on your certificate. For the PMP Prep package you will earn 40 hours, for the Core Knowledge package 25 hours, and for the Re-Certification package 15 hours.

7. What if I take the Final Test before my access time is up? Does that mean I do not have access anymore?

If you complete your PM Professional Coach Final Test before your access time has expired, you may go back into the program to finish out the duration of your purchase.

8. Is PM Professional Coach only for people interested in going for their PMP certification?

No. The PM Professional Coach is designed for any learner, at any level of the organization that wants to learn more about project management. Program use recommendations are divided into packages to match learner needs to the many capabilities of the program. See the "Choose the Package That's Right for You" section on the PM Professional Coach main page for more details on each package offering.

9. Is the coach available in other languages?

No. At this time PM Professional Coach is only available in English.

10. What is the wait time to start using PM Professional Coach after payment is submitted?

After payment is submitted successfully, you will be able to access the PM Professional Coach tool immediately.

11. I attempted to register and submit payment for the PM Professional Coach on a Friday evening, but I was not able to access to site to do so. Why is this?

PM Professional Coach is accessed via PM College’s Learning Management System (LMS). The LMS undergoes system maintenance at approximately 4:00pm Eastern on Fridays. At this time during the week, the LMS system is not able to be accessed.

12. If I bought the 40/25 hour version of PM Coach that has the PMP Exam Prep test, how many times am I permitted to take that test as “practice”?

PM Coach will allow three attempts at the PMP Exam Prep test. Question pooling allows you to get a different experience each time, which really builds practice for when you sit for the PMI exam. Using this method gives you more practice for the actual PMP exam and insures you are well prepared.

13. What is the difference between the Final Test and the PMP Exam Prep test?

The Final Test is a test that covers the content of PM Coach, it’s goal is to test for understanding. The PMP Exam Prep test is more of a practice test that simulates the actual PMP test that is offered through PMI.

14. How can I determine how many hours I have left to use PM Coach?

The User Info tab within the PM Coach tool tracks the time you have spent in the system. Please note however, that PM Coach is purchased for 15, 25 or 40 hours that must be accomplished within the associated timeframe as well:

  • Re-Certification Package - 15 hours of access over 30 days
  • Core Knowledge Package - 25 hours of access over 60 days
  • PMP Prep Package - 40 hours of access over 90 days
