Obtaining CEUs, CPEs, and PDUs

PM College awards Continuing Education Units (CEUs) and Professional Development Units (PDUs) for all of its curriculum of courses, in addition to Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Credits for a select number of courses. The number of CEUs, CPEs, and PDUs earned for each PM College course is identified as part of the course description.

What is a CEU?

IACETThe Continuing Education Unit (CEU) was created by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET) as a measurement of continuing education. One (1) CEU is equal to ten (10) contact hours of participation in an organized continuing education experience under responsible sponsorship, capable direction, and qualified instruction. As an IACET Authorized Provider, PM College offers CEUs for its programs that qualify under IACET guidelines. The primary purpose of the CEU is to provide a permanent record of the educational accomplishments of an individual who has completed one or more significant non-credit educational experiences.

What is a CPE?

The Continuing Professional Education (CPE) designation is a measurement by the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA®). NASBA upholds that the profession of accountancy should include continuing development of professional competency and should involve a program of lifelong education activities that assist CPAs in achieving and maintaining quality in professional services. NASBA indicates that one CPE credit is earned for every 50 minutes engaged with a program of learning.

What is a PDU?

PMI REPThe Professional Development Unit (PDU) is the measuring unit used by the Project Management Institute, Inc. (PMI®) to quantify approved learning and professional service activities. Typically, one PDU is earned for every one hour spent in a planned, structured learning experience or activity. PM College is recognized as a chartered global Registered Education Provider (REP® #1020) for PMI and is thus able to award PDUs for its programs. Each Project Management Professional (PMP®) must satisfy the PMP Professional Development Program requirements in order to maintain their PMP certification. Project Management Professionals are required to attain no less than 60 Professional Development Units within a three-year cycle.

Earning CEUs, CPEs, and PDUs

Once a participant has successfully completed the course (and associated course exams if applicable), they will earn the CEUs, CPEs, and/or PDUs associated with that course and will receive a certificate of completion endorsed by PM College. In all courses, participants must attend the entire program to receive a completion certificate and CEUs, CPEs, and/or PDUs.

Recording CEUs, CPEs, and PDUs

PM College maintains permanent CEU records for all participants as required by IACET for auditing purposes. These records must be maintained separately from course attendance records and, in most cases, from personnel records. Participants can obtain a duplicate copy of their course completion certificate for any course they attended that includes the number of CEUs earned by contacting PM College at info@pmcollege.com.

PM College maintains permanent CPE records beyond the required 5 years for all participants as required by NASBA® as part of our archived records. However, it is the individual participant’s responsibility to record CPEs towards their biennial requirement by the appropriate State Board of Accountancy. For the most up-to-date information regarding how to record CPEs, please visit http://nasba.org/.
